I love Marc John's funny art and he regularly puts has post it note doodles on his blog...
... this made me laugh out loud today:

Imagine a big red button.
Probably with some sort of plastic lift up cover on it ... the sort that makes it looks REALLY important.
Imagine that buttons only appears in those private moments when you are really REALLY pissed off with the weird twists and turns that life throws at you.
Then imagine that when it appears - everything stands still.
You get a moment.
For just one minute your life stands still and you get absolute clarity on who and what is most important to you in your life.
In that moment of ethical, moral and social clarity you only have one decision to make... Do I hit the button?
If you hit the button the tension, misunderstandings and problems of the past six months are gone. You could erase all the fall outs with people at work. You could undo that stupid fight with your loved one that still desperately regret. You could have chosen not have that extra drink that meant you accidentally spilled out something you weren't supposed to know. You could wipe out that time you were so childish you embarrassed yourself and lost yourself respect... You could reach into the lives of those you've touched and let them see the truth that you always wanted to convey. You could stop feeling sorry for yourself.
But here's the kicker..
This button doest fix just your problems.
It was also fix those things that your friends so desperately wish were different. All the confusion, hurt and darkness that they feel.
All you have to decide is hit that button.
And the catch? You are only allowed to press this button 3 times in your entire life.
Today, not for myself - but for those around me who are hurting, I would have.
There are several reasons to laugh at my new website which I've JUST put live...
1. It's been nicknamed the "Blue Kilt Site" as it's a, erm, what's the word... blatant copy of my other baby kiltmakers.co.uk.
2. I haven't finished it. Products are missing, the help section is 'coming soon' etc
3. According to Miss D - there are a frankly horrifying number of spelling and grammatical errors - good job I have an effcient proof reading on the case!
But.. as with all these things.. getting it live it what's important!!! So....
Just testing a new beta function on vox - embedding code.
Hopefully you'll see an advert which will link through to my eBay store (I do have a real job see!). Shame I cant resize it properly - but I'm not moaning.
Speaking of website and stuff - I'm hoping to put my new Case Logic website live this weekend... I've now been waiting a week to get my secure certificate (that's the thing that make sure you all see a padlock in your browser when you're giving me your card details!).
Despite trading online for nearly three years, I still have to go through a long boring process of proving who I am! Yawn-fest.
Anyway...
I love vox - I'm loving it even more if this works!
Oooo - this is a bit new! I'm old enough, wise enough, and opinionated enough(!) that I feel qualified to write a band review. Yay! It only took 31 years.
Saturday we took a trip to see Crazy P play at Sanfu.
[A quick apology to Miss D at this point - she was due to attend with myself and Magroo but helped a friend out behind the bar on Saturday. She had a pretty rough time of it and I promised that I wouldn't rub it in... so Miss D.. stop reading now please! You were sorely missed!]
All the ingredients were wrong:
- Who the hell has heard of Crazy Penis? (Crazy P as they are known in the UK - we are too conservative!)
- The tickets hadn't sold out.
- Magroo was really tired.
- Miss D wasn't with us :-(
- Magroo was half a bottle of Jack very tired.
- It was 23.20 and I was STONE COLD sober.
- Five (the pre-club bar) wasn't busy.
- Snafu isn't a big place - 300 capacity maybe?
- Aberdeen crowds are notoriously unappreciative.
- Aberdeen dancey-types are relatively reserved when it comes to making a band feel welcome.
However - all this was rememdied and/or forgotten about thanks to our friends Mr Vodka and Mr RedBull.
In sanfu the stage is tiny. How they managed to fit all the keyboards, drum kit, guitars, etc and still allow room for the hugely endearing Dannielle Moore to dance her socks off I don't know.
After presuming I was the only person in the entire world familiar with Crazy P, I was taken aback by the noise that greeted them walking on stage. I was even more surprised when the dancefloored filled up and every chorus of every song was met with the unmistakable sound of the crowd joining in.
One thing that struck both myself and magroo was the quality of what we heard and saw. We (accidentally) managed to see Mylo and his band play 5 times over the last two years, and despite following a huge improvment in his act over that time - Mylo isn't a patch on Crazy P. Fair point that Crazy P have been on the go for at least 7 years, but this gig just felt so Faithless-eque 'polished'. Crazy Penis sounded increadably tight and sweet - suprising in such a small venue. In fact - It was so bloody good that had we not been so close that you could witness the the guitars being plucked, you could have been mistaken for presuming it was all on backing track.
Several Budweisers were consumed. The obligatory idiot at the front sticking his fingers up was removed. And everyone settled in.
I was nervous when Dannielle announced she was going to do a slow one as this is the point at which the disrespectful tossers in a crowd usually head on mass to the bar or just heckle.. but as a true testiment to her warmth and stage presence everyone stayed and those who knew the lyrics joined in as loud as we could.
For a band used to touring European and Australian festivals it was great to see how seriously they took the night - Dannielle changed her dress half way through the act for example. The encore of their cover of You've Got The Love was as sublime as the rest of the set.
One of the many advantages of the smoking ban in Scotland is that we got a chat with some of the band members outside afterwards. I asked them why we aren't seeing more them touring the festivals in the UK... they said they have plans!
Live dance music will always be my first love. Suncreem blew me away as a kid. I've seen hundreds of live dance acts over the last 14 years - Faithless, Scissor Sisters, Mylo, Hybrid, Basement Jaxx etc. To my utter astonishment all the ingredients came together on Saturday to bring one of the best gigs I've ever seen - onlt Faithless still hold the top slot for me.
I cannot stress to anyone enough - please try to catch Crazy P and give them your support this year!!! If they are only half as good for you as they were for me on Saturday, you'll have a unforgettable night.
See????
The combined influence of two Jodi's?

MissDLish on Spaced
I'd had PROPERLY forgot just how funny Spaced is.. so I did something I rarely do and rushed to the shops...
Thanks both! I am already laughing...
'Spaced' is the story of two very different people, enthusiastic but directionless Daisy Stiener and grumpy, broken hearted skateboarder, Tim Bisley. - Sound familiar Miss D?!!!! haha
What will be your famous last words?

Simple.
I would step outside.
I would stare hard directly up into the sky.
and I would say quizzically...
"It definitely looks like a Piano?"
Video: Show us a clip of a TV show you miss.
Aww....
Series 7 was best ;-)
Show us some art in your home.
I only have one 'proper' bit of art at the moment. Purists would argue that a limited edition computer generated print-out is hardly art, but I thing that this is amongst Jason Brooks finest works to date.
Jason is the man responsible for the Hed Kandi art work (although he's moved on to Fierce Angle now). His style is now being copied on every high street and just about every nightclub flyer you'll be handed.
As for this image? It appeared for sale on his website just around the time that I wanted to make a bold statement in my home - to say something that captures that way I felt about the music at the time. The first half of this century turned out some of the most intelligent, deep and emotive house music ever made and this captured it perfectly.
I love that Jason's shares his portfolio online. It shows how his skills developed over the years and this is just one of his finest to date. No-one I know can get the eyes so damn right! Twisted Disco is sexy, glowing.. just plain stunning... and she's framed with pride at home!

I wish! Like the rest of Scotland I was unable to get tickets :-( However - bring on ROCK NESS!... read more
on Yay - I'm old enough! Review of Crazy P / Crazy Penis
